About Swashodhan Trust
Swashodhan Trust is a non-profit organization dedicated to the holistic transformation of rural India. Founded in 2017, we are more than just an NGO — we are a movement of seva (selfless service), digital empowerment, and dharmic (value-based) living.
Our goal is to build self-sustaining, self-sufficient, digitally connected, and morally grounded villages across India — communities that thrive without needing to migrate to cities.

🌱 Our Journey
Swashodhan was born from a deeply personal transformation.
After spending 35 years in the United States — including 25 years as a practicing interventional cardiologist — Dr. Karunakar Reddy returned to India with a calling to serve. His 18-year practice of Vipassana meditation inspired a shift from a materialistic life to one centered on spiritual growth and selfless giving.
Moved by the challenges of rural life and convinced that true happiness lies in serving others, he founded Swashodhan Trust with the mission to uplift rural communities through digital innovation, value-based education, and compassionate care.
From visiting slums and NGOs to launching the Chippalapally Digital Village project, his hands-on approach laid the foundation for a model of rural development that is now being replicated in remote villages like Tosham and Mallapur in Adilabad district — with the vision to expand this across 1 million villages in India.
💡 What We Do
At Swashodhan, we work to bridge the rural-urban divide by delivering urban amenities to rural areas, inspired by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s PURA (Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas) vision.
